Ruth is trained in traditional Chinese Acupuncture, which differs from Western based 'dry needling.'   Dry needling is just a small part of her extensive training.  Acupuncture may be a stand-alone treatment or combined with other techniques such as massage, cupping, tui na or deep tissue massage).

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture may help treat a wide range of sports related injuries, strains and sprains, assist with pain relief and increase recovery time.

As well as acupuncture your traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncturist may use electro-acupuncture,
cupping, heat therapy (moxa) and massage to facilitate your recovery.

The British Acupuncture Council or BAcC (the U.K.’s leading self-regulatory body for the practice of traditional acupuncture) provides a growing body of evidence-based clinical research showing that traditional acupuncture safely treats a wide range of common health problems.  The BAcC provides accurate and unbiased fact sheets which summarise this research. Ruth is truly a miracle worker. She introduced me to the concept of acupuncture when I went to her for a deep tissue massage on my legs. I was training sometimes twice a day at the time for triathlons and competing regularly.

Ruth's gentle and soothing manner when I first met her instantly relaxed me and my thirst for knowledge was quenched as she gave me a clear explanation about traditional acupuncture's holistic nature and how it could replenish the body, mind and soul. Ruth's knowledge and passion for her subject shone through inspiring me to give it a go.

Guided by my feedback, Ruth placed her needles in exactly the right places and they were so effective! My results on the running track and out on the bike improved dramatically. My training buddies asked me what I was doing differently, as the change was so noticeable. The only thing that I was doing differently was getting the acupuncture from Ruth at Carlisle Therapies.

As a Personal Trainer I always recommend my clients to Ruth for support with injury and recovery; her personable qualities make going to Ruth a completely unique experience that is guaranteed to make you feel lighter and more energised when you leave.
